"Meryl and Milly’s BIG Day"
a Trigun story by ZMasta

“Wait…please…have mercy!” an injured citizen begged, lying among others, most of which dead. A dark man clad in a long white trench coat approached with a menacing look in his piercing yellow eyes. He smirked and said, “You pitiful humans…always insisting on prolonging your death. You can’t escape the inevitable…one day we will all perish.” The citizen felt himself get to his feet, when he realized he was being controlled like a puppet. “Wha-what’s going on?” he exclaimed. The dark man continued his evil smirk as he played mind games with the helpless citizen. The citizen found himself moving towards a broken window scattered on the floor…only to pick a large shard of it up and hold it high above his chest. “No…” he choked, “Please, don’t…”. The dark man glared at him and lost his smirk. “Legato Bluesummers does not show mercy.” and seconds later, the citizen lie in a bleeding mess on the floor.

In another part of town, two women had just received a report from the Bernadarii Insurance Company regarding the recent incident with the dark man, Legato. “Milly!” one of the women, Meryl, who had short, dark hair and was fairly shorter than most, exclaimed, “Looks like we’ve got another case on our hands.” The other woman, Milly, was quite tall for a woman, and had long, light brown hair. “Right,” Milly replied, and, usually being the ditzy one, almost stumbling over herself getting ready so fast. “What’s the deal this time?” she said, regaining her stability. Meryl, panting from rushing around the room, said between breaths, “Looks like some lunatic’s caused mayhem downtown…nothing out of the ordinary.”. Meryl and Milly had finally got out the door, and had eventually reached their destination…a small, destroyed building…in such disarray that even the overhead sign was illegible.

Meryl and Milly cautiously walked into the building…trying to skip over the rubble and debris. When they finally reached the entrance, Milly almost jumped back in shock of the dead bodies all over the floor. Meryl had almost not noticed them, as she was more concerned with the surroundings. It appeared to be a bakery…or something of the sort. Glass cases were busted open, various bread-related foods lie on the counters and floor, and a helium tank lay in the corner, supposedly used for selling balloons on special occasions. “Meryl, what’s that?” Milly pointed to something in the shadows of the room. It was Legato, chuckling under his breath. “Looks like the authorities have arrived…and in such cute packages, too.” Meryl scowled and held up a badge. “We are Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson of the Bernadarii Insurance Company. We have reason to believe you caused the deaths of these and many other innocent people.”

Legato emerged from the shadows and looked up at them. “Don’t make it sound so unheard of,” he said quite coolly, “I was merely speeding up what would happen in the future…one day we all will end up like them.” Meryl put away her badge and held up a gun, as Milly pulled out a gigantic ‘stun gun’ as she liked to refer to it. “Put it however you want…you’re still a wanted man in big trouble.” Meryl retorted. Legato once again gave his evil smirk. “Big, huh? Maybe I should show you two what big is all about.”

Meryl suddenly dropped her gun, looking rather dazed. “Meryl, what are you doing?” Milly said worriedly. Meryl walked over to the mess of baked goods, grabbing as many as she could and forcefully stuffing them into her mouth. “I *chew* don’t know!! *chomp chomp* I’m trying to stop…*stuff* but my body is out of control!” Milly watched in shock as Meryl continued to stuff her face, her stomach straining her clothes as it grew rather rapidly. Milly started to run over to help, but then felt herself lose control as well and drop her gun. She turned away from Meryl and started to move towards the helium tank in the corner of the room. “M-M-Meeerrrryyyllll!!” she cried, now in front of it. Milly felt her hand reaching down for the hose attached to the tank. With the hose now in her hand, Milly tried to stop her other one as it moved slowly to the valve. “Oh no…” she gasped, “Meryl, help! I’m…I’m turning on the gas!!”

Milly’s hand cranked the valve all the way up…as her other one plunked the hose deep into her mouth. “MMMPHH!!” is all she could say as the helium rushed into her body, expanding it every which way, all the time a hissing noise ringing in her head. Legato laughed as Milly’s body gradually became a gigantic balloon…soon lifting her right off the ground. Suddenly, a man with spiked blonde hair and a red trench coat busted through the entrance. “What’s going on in here?!” he exclaimed as he saw Meryl becoming a humongous mass of fat and Milly as a huge skin-colored sphere hitting the ceiling, her clothes being stretched to outlandish proportions, with the hose hanging down from her puffy face. Legato smiled, “Ah, Vash the Stampede…so glad you could join us…won’t you stay? I’m sure your friend Milly could tell you we’re having a ball.” he said with a snicker. Vash looked horrified at the girls. “Legato…what have you done to them?!”

Legato answered, “Done? Please, they were the ones who started eating the baked goods and sucking the gas…I merely persuaded them…if you know what I mean.” Vash ran over to Meryl and grunted as he painstakingly turned her massive body to the side. “Alright Legato…you like big? Well I’ll show you what big can really do!” Vash charged at Meryl’s body as hard as he could, knocking her just enough to make her roll across the room, knocking Legato straight into the wall like a bowling pin. “Vash…” he said, seriously injured from the broken glass all over the floor next to him. “You will die one day…you, your friends…everyone!” Vash stepped over to the hose hanging from Milly’s mouth. “Well Legato…maybe we will…but no one has the right to take the life of another.” And with that, Vash yanked the hose from Milly’s mouth, causing her to shoot around the room like a released balloon, bouncing Legato straight into the next building.

When Meryl regained consciousness, and when Milly was completely deflated, Vash and Milly joined their strengths and rolled Meryl out of the building, walking back uptown to find a cure for Meryl’s weight problem. As they rolled her, Milly looked down and laughed, “You know, Meryl, I think I like you better this way!” Meryl smirked and said, “Well balloon-girl, there’s sure to be a helium tank somewhere in this town we could find…”. Milly stepped back and said, “Just kidding. I think I’ve had enough of being a balloon for one day.” Vash chuckled. “Well hey, there’s always tomorrow!” They all laughed and continued uptown.
